Registered PMI® members also get free access to Practice Exams.

The PMP® Certification Exam is very challenging. To succeed, you must:

  • Dedicate your time and effort into preparing for the exam.
  • Complete the e-learning course content before the online classroom training.
  • Score at least 80% in one out of the seven PMP® full-length practice tests available online at Portolearn.com.

In the past, PMI® had published 61% of 200 questions as the passing score. But now, PMI does not disclose the exact passing score or percentage anymore.

After the PMP® Certification Exam update, the passing score is different for every candidate and is based on the difficulty level of questions being attempted by each candidate.

Before you begin, make sure that you meet all certification eligibility requirements and enter the necessary information on the application. Once you start filling out the application form, it cannot be canceled, but you can save the unfinished form and come back and complete or edit information as required.

The application will remain open for 90 days, during which PMI® will send you an email reminder to complete the application.

Please ensure that the application includes your valid, unique email address, as this will be the primary mode of communication from PMI® throughout the certification process. PMI® will send email reminders during the process, but you must schedule and attend the examination within the one-year eligibility period.

No. PMI® encourages you to apply for the exam online using PMI® Online Certification System.

Once you have submitted the form online, PMI® will take up to 5 calendar days to process and approve the form. However, these timelines may vary if your application has been selected for PMI®’s audit process.

If your application form is selected for an audit, PMI® will request you to provide various documents, such as:

  • Copies of your diploma or global equivalent.
  • Signatures from your supervisor(s) or manager(s) from the project(s) recorded in the experience verification section on the application.
  • Copies of certificates and/or letters from the training institute(s) for each course recorded on the application to meet the required contact hours of project management education.

Any verifying manager or supervisor can sign the Experience Verification Form and Experience PDF attachment.

You can send your completed audit forms to the PMI®’s official address by regular postal mail or express courier service.

The PMI® does not accept faxed or emailed audit documents. Participants should send all documents in one envelope to expedite the processing time.

Once requested, you have up to 90 days to submit all necessary documentation.

In the event of a failed audit, the certification fee (minus a processing fee) will be refunded. The Certification Department will take further action on a case-by-case basis.

If you fail the PMP® application audit, the PMI® will deduct $100 from your application fee, and you will receive a refund of the remaining fees paid.

You must pay the fee when you submit your application form, which is before the audit.

To claim a refund for the PMP® certification, you must place a request with PMI® at least 30 days before the exam eligibility expiry date. PMI® will retain a processing fee of US$100 if you have not scheduled or taken the examination.

The PMI® allows a candidate to attempt the exam up to three times in one calendar year. Focused training programs will help give you the knowledge and experience to prepare for and pass the exam.

It takes four to six weeks to receive the certificate after passing the exam.

A certificate provided by portolearn acts as proof to claim the 35 PDUs(Professional development units). The certificate testifies that you have completed 35 contact hours and hence eligible to receive the 35 PDUs

The validity of a PMP® Certification is three years.

You need to gain 60 professional development units (PDUs) every three years.
